FREDONIA, Ariz. (AP) - Crews are battling a lightning-caused wildfire in far northwestern Arizona near the Utah border that has charred more than 1,000 acres.
Bureau of Land Management officials say the so-called Le Fevre Fire was burning on the Arizona Strip District management area about 8 miles southeast of Fredonia.
The wildfire broke out Thursday and was 50 percent contained Friday at 1,058 acres after heavy air tankers and helicopters attacked the flames.
BLM officials say the blaze is burning within an old vegetation treatment area. They say some structures were briefly threatened, but no evacuations are needed.
