North Kaibab fire finally expected to weaken after substantial growth

FREDONIA, Ariz., (KGUN9-TV) - The North Kaibab Ranger District fire grew substantially yesterday, but less growth is expected.
Gusty winds and lush terrain has helped the North Kaibab fire grow to almost 1,400 acres, according to Jacqueline C. Banks, public information officer for the Kaibab National Forest.
Banks claims less growth is expected today as winds die in the area.
The fire, which was caused by lightening, is located in a a remote area on the far west side of the North Kaibab district.
The fire reportedly grow quickly as it moved through cheat grass and pinyon-juniper woodlands, but as it moves into rocky areas, it is expected to loose strength, according to Banks.
