FLORENCE, Ariz. (AP) - The pickup truck of a missing Apache Junction man has been found in a Gila County canyon with a body inside.
Pinal County Sheriff's officials say it's still unclear whether the body is that of 58-year-old Jeffrey Block.
Block's family reported him missing July 26 after he failed to return home from a trip to Show Low with his dog.
The vehicle was discovered Wednesday by a search volunteer near the bottom of a 1,000-foot canyon off U.S. Highway 60.
The volunteer notified the Arizona Department of Public Safety and two officers hiked to the remote scene. They confirmed a dead body was inside the vehicle and it appears to have been there for about two weeks.
DPS is handling the crash investigation and assisting in recovery of the body.
