TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - An accident on Tucson's southside Tuesday night left one person dead, according to Deputy Tom Peine with the Pima County Sheriff's Department.
Peine tells KGUN9 that the one of the three vehicles involved in the accident at Palo Verde Road and Irvington Road caught on fire. Another vehicle involved was an Arizona Department of Corrections vehicle that had a prisoner inside.
Peine says the prisoner is secured and crews are still working the scene.
Capt. Grant Cesarek with Rural Metro Fire Department says five patients were taken to the hospital as a result of this crash.
It was unclear which of the three cars had caught on fire, and what led to the fatality.
