FREDONIA, Ariz., (KGUN9-TV) - Lightning from a thunderstorm Saturday sparked eight fires on the west side of the Kaibab Plateau, according to Patrick Lair, a spokesman with the Kaibab National Forest.
Lair tells KGUN9 that firefighters are working with the Kaibab National Forest to suppress these fires, which are all burning in pinyon-juniper woodlands and cheatgrass.
The largest of the fires, the Tank Fire, is estimated at 1,100 acres and is near Little Spring Canyon.
Twelve engines, three hot-shot crews, one hand crew, two helicopters and one air attack are all on this scene to fight the fires.
