TUCSON (KGUN 9-TV) - A man was arrested Monday after a tip revealed he was maintaining a grow house full of psilocybin mushrooms.
Joshua Bortnick, 41, was charged with one count of manufacturing a dangerous drug after the Tucson Counter Narcotics Alliance responded to an 88-CRIME tip about suspected drug activity in the 2500 block of E. La Madera Drive.
The investigation revealed that the majority of Bortnick's one-bedroom apartment was being used to grow multiple pounds of psilocybin mushrooms.
Narcotics officials also found related drug paraphernalia and more than 290 jars containing biomas.
Investigators say one jar of biomas planted in soil could have yielded ten pounds of psilocybin mushrooms.
