Tucson police reclassify firefighter’s case after he dies

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Tucson police released new information Tuesday in the search for the driver who hit Sterling Lytle, a 25-year-old Nogales firefighter.
 
Now that Lytle died, the investigation is classified as a homicide. Before, it was a case of aggravated assault.
 
Police also told 9 On Your Side they found a front-end truck grill at the scene along North Alvernon Way. Detectives said that grill was made for an orange 2003 to 2005 Chevy Avalanche or Silverado. A witness TPD questioned last week said the truck was a Blazer.
 
Police are asking anyone who knows about the vehicle, the driver or this case to call 88-CRIME or 9-1-1. There's now a $26,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.
 
Investigators remain on the case.
 
"They're working hard on canvassing, re-canvassing the area for homes in the area," Sgt. Chris Widmer told 9 On Your Side. "They're canvassing the businesses in hopes of finding surveillance camera in any of these businesses."
