Tucson attorney appointed to Pima County court

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Tucson attorney James Erik Marner has been appointed as a new judge for Pima County Superior Court.
The move was announced Friday by Gov. Jan Brewer. It fills the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge John Leonardo, who has been nominated to be a U.S. Attorney for Arizona.
Marner is a Tucson native who has been practicing law in Arizona since 1997. Prior to that, he practiced law in the state of Washington, working in both the King County and the Spokane County prosecutor's offices.
Marner served six years in the Marines and had a tour of duty in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait during Operation Desert Storm.
