TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - The last time the Wildcat Baseball team won the world series, the current team wasn't even born, but Mayor Jonathan Rothschild was. Now he says, it's time to take the crown home once again.
"I don't want to jinx it, but if we can win the national championship we are going to name a road leading into the stadium as 'Championship Way'" said the Mayor.
On campus Friday, fans were getting their hands on some championship gear.
"I'm hopeful" said Steve Foster.
It's not just the students keeping watch. Fellow Wildcat Athletes are keeping their fingers crossed too.
"Its awesome. We have been watching and it's great to see another team here at the U of A do well" said John Bonono, UA Kicker.
UA Baseball will face either Arkansas or South Carolina on Sunday. Whoever wins the best of three series takes home the trophy.
