FLAGSTAFF, Ariz., (KGUN9-TV) - A 16-year-old boy drowned while visiting Supai Canyon with his boy scout troop, according to Gerry Blair with the Coconino County Sheriff's Department.
Kreg Harrison Jr., from St. George, Utah, was swimming in the pool with three other scouts in his Boy Scout Troop.
According to the other boys who were swimming with Harrison, the group was attempting to swim close to the falls.
Officers with the Bureau of Indian Affairs responded to Mooney Falls when they received a report of a possible drowning.
A doctor traveling with the troop attempted CPR on Harrison, but was unsuccessful.
Two other boys were trapped behind the falls and a human chain was formed to rescue the trapped swimmers.
Harrison's body was flown to the Coconino County Medical Examiner's Office.
The investigation is ongoing.
