TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Tucson Police are investigating the murder of 30-year-old Jason Sullivan.
Sgt. Maria Hawke tells KGUN9 that police received a 9-1-1 call for welfare check of a man who was found slumped over in a vehicle in the 3300 Block of East Willard. Sullivan was found dead at the scene.
It's still unclear how Sullivan may be tied to the neighborhood, or how long his body remained in the car. Several neighbors told 9 On Your Side they'd seen it parked, and didn't think to look closer.
"It was right behind me. The whole scene was right behind me and I had no idea," said Mary Albert, who was walking her dogs that morning and stopped in front of the car to talk to neighbors. When she returned from the store later, it was surrounded by police.
Gale Moulton lives across the street and says she didn't recognize the name Sullivan or the car. She walked out of her home to see police investigating the scene.
"It was a shock," she said, "That close to home."
Her neighbor, Guy Hayton says he saw the car Tuesday afternoon, and when he woke up Wednesday morning it was still there. He also heard a sound in the middle of the night.
"I did hear something that woke me up, but I wasn't sure what it was so I went back to sleep," he said, "I just hope they catch whoever did it."
Police haven't released the details surrounding the death including any possible weapons used or how long Sullivan was in the car.
Homicide Unit detectives are working to establish the motive and suspect(s) who may be associated with the incident.
Anyone who has knowledge of Sullivan's whereabouts between the hours of 10:00 p.m. on June 12 and 8:00 a.m. on June 13 are asked to contact 9-1-1 or 88-CRIME.
