PHOENIX (AP) - Authorities say a man was fatally shot after wielding a baseball bat at Phoenix police officers.
A police spokesman on Tuesday said 25-year-old Timothy Sean O'Brien died after threatening to assault officers with a bat at a public park.
Police were called to the scene Monday about 1 p.m. at a city swimming pool on West Morningside Drive, where O'Brien was confronting another guest with a bat.
They say O'Brien turned to police while holding the bat and advanced toward them. Authorities say O'Brien ignored multiple warnings to put the bat down and two officers fired their handguns.
Phoenix firefighters pronounced O'Brien dead at the scene. No officers were injured.
The incident is still under investigation.
