TUCSON (KGUN-TV/ AP) - Throughout Pima County and Southern Arizona, residents have been feeling the effect of the smoke from New Mexico's wildfires. Friday's air quality is poor.
KGUN 9OYS Meteorologist April Madison says "There is still some smoke out there, so [we're] going to hold on to the smoke advisory for the morning hours." By this afternoon, westerly winds should succeed in blowing most of it out of southern Arizona, and clearing our skies.
Environmental regulators have issued an ozone high pollution advisory for the Phoenix metropolitan area on Friday.
There have been three ozone health watches issued by the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality since Monday.
Ozone is an invisible gas created when other pollutants in the air are heated by the sun, such as those created by combustion.
People who are unusually sensitive to air quality should consider limiting their time outdoors.
