TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Bernadette Macias, 35, has been identified as the victim in a fatal collision. Police seek assistance from the public in identifying the driver in the collision from May 19.
Sgt. Chris Widmer tells KGUN9 that according to witnesses and evidence, officers have determined a Silver 2005 Jeep Liberty was traveling westbound on Golf Links Road just east of South Swan Road in the early morning hours, when the driver lost control of the vehicle, left the roadway, and struck a tree.
Tucson Fire responded to the scene and found Macias in the passenger seat, suffering from serious injuries. She was transported to a local area hospital for treatment where she later died as a result of her injuries.
The driver fled the scene prior to police arrival and has not yet been identified, says Widmer.
Police are asking for the help of the public in identifying and locating the driver. Anyone with information is urged to contact 9-1-1 or 88-CRIME.
