Move for interim Ariz. redistricting map dropped
Web Producer: Laura Kittell
PHOENIX (AP) - Lawyers for Arizona Republicans challenging the state's new legislative district map are dropping their effort to have a federal court draw an interim set of districts for use in this year's elections.
The lawyers for the challengers say they still intend to press their case to try to prevent the approved legislative map from being used in future elections.
But they say they're dropping their request for an interim 2012 map for reasons of efficiency and to avoid wasting time or effort by the courts and those litigating the case.
