Governor signs bill on tax rebate for homeowners
Web Producer: Marissa Pasquet
PHOENIX (AP) - Gov. Jan Brewer has signed a bill to eliminate a requirement that homeowners submit an affidavit to receive a property tax rebate.
With the legislation, residential property owners would no longer have to declare every two years if a property is their primary residence.
Instead, county assessors would periodically notify homeowners by mail.
If a home is not owner occupied or the owner doesn't respond on time, it would not qualify for the tax break.
The bill revises a provision that was part of a massive economic development package approved by the Legislature last year.
