Arizona lawmakers near final approval of budget
Web Producer: Marissa Pasquet
PHOENIX, Ariz. (AP) - The Arizona Legislature has nearly completed action on a Republican budget proposal.
The Senate late Tuesday formally approved the 10 budget bills on nearly party line votes. They're being sent to the House for expected approval.
The spending plan was negotiated Gov. Jan Brewer and top legislative leaders.
It includes new spending sought by Brewer for education and other services. It also partly replenishes a reserve account that Republican legislators sought in anticipation of renewed budget trouble.
Approval would send the budget to Brewer.
