Household hazardous waste collection event Saturday

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Do your spring cleaning and get rid of unwanted hazardous items. The City of Tucson and Pima County want things like cans of paint and unused chemicals in your garage or shed for their waste collection event.
You can clean out your garage while keeping hazardous materials out of the enviornment. The Household Hazardous Waste Program and the mid-town neighborhood associations are sponsoring their annual outreach event on Saturday, April 28, 2012.
The event will be held at Himmel Park in the north parking lot; east of Tucson Blvd. and south of Speedway Blvd.
Materials accepted at the event are: Automotive fluids, auto and rechargeable batteries from electronics equipment, toxic cleaning products, fluorescent lamps, paints, solvents, lawn and garden products and computer equipment.
The program will only accept materials generated in homes and will not accept commercially generated materals.
