PHOENIX (AP) - Polls are open until 7 p.m. in southern Arizona's 8th Congressional District as voters decide who will face former Gabrielle Giffords aide Ron Barber in a special election to replace the wounded ex-congresswoman.
Four Republican candidates are battling in a special primary election called after the Democrat resigned in January to focus on recovering from a gunshot wound.
Giffords tapped her aide as her preferred replacement. Barber has drawn strong financial support and no challengers in his party's primary.
That leaves the GOP foursome - Jesse Kelly, state Sen. Frank Antenori, Martha McSally and Dave Sitton - to battle in the special primary election. The general election is June 12.
