Police escort Yuma mayor from council session

YUMA, Ariz. (AP) - In the latest duel between Yuma Mayor Al Krieger and the City Council, the mayor was escorted from a City Council session Tuesday by the city's police chief. The Yuma Sun reports the meeting was a closed door executive session following the council's work session between the council and the attorney it hired to conduct an investigation into allegations of misconduct by Krieger. The mayor said later he was instructed to leave the meeting by Deputy Mayor Paul Johnson. Krieger maintained he was trying to leave because he felt the meeting was illegal because he wasn't given 24 hours' notice. Before he could finish, Krieger said, Johnson directed Yuma Police Chief John Lekan to escort him from the room.
