PHOENIX (AP) - The Arizona Department of Transportation is seeking nearly $40 million in federal highway dollars for two projects it says are critical to moving interstate goods.
Some of the money would cover rehabilitating a bridge on Interstate 15 along the Virgin River Gorge to and from the Nevada and Utah state borders.
ADOT is seeking $21.6 million for repairs to the bridge which carries 1.4 million trucks annually. The rehabilitation work would include replacing girders, the deck and railings as well as widening the roadway.
On Interstate 10, ADOT is asking the feds for $16 million to reconstruct the Ehrenberg Port of Entry. The port was built in 1976 and is 3 miles from the California border.
