Rep. Daniel Patterson suspends re-election campaign

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV/AP) - Rep. Daniel Patterson announced through his Twitter page that he will be suspending his re-election campaign.
On his Twitter page, Patterson said "I'm suspending my reelection campaign & likely will not run for AZ House in 2012. I want focus on family, break from politics."
Patterson's decision comes after the Arizona House has refused to immediately expel a Tucson lawmaker accused of inappropriate behavior.
The Arizona House set aside a his motion to adopt the findings and recommendations of a report by Ethics Committee investigators who urged his expulsion.
Instead the House approved the committee chairman's proposal to move the deadline for Patterson to submit a response to the report to April 10.
An ethics complaint against Patterson comes from domestic violence allegations. Investigators' report cites other alleged misconduct, including disrespectful and angry behavior toward other lawmakers.
Patterson denied wrongdoing and pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor domestic violence charges in Tucson City Court.
