Several Arizona sectors to hire more workers

PHOENIX, Ariz. (AP) - Hiring is expected to increase this year in several areas of Arizona's economy as employers gain confidence and the economic recovery gains steam.
Officials say that the sectors poised to add jobs this year include private education, health care, transportation, and retail and hospitality.
Some areas in technology also are hot, construction jobs are making a small comeback, and warehouse and distribution centers are expanding and adding workers - a harbinger of future economic growth fueled by increased consumer spending.
Arizona ended 2011 with 2,415,000 jobs. That's up 1.1 percent from 2,387,800 jobs in December 2010.
In October, state economists predicted that this year Arizona employers will add 29,000 jobs, a 1.2 percent overall gain and a solid increase over the 27,200 jobs added in 2011.
