Police investigating shooting on Tucson's south side
TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Tucson Police are questioning six people possibly connected with a shooting incident that sent a woman to the hospital.
Sgt. Matt Ronstadt with Tucson Police tells KGUN9 that on Thursday evening, officers were called to a home near the intersection of Sunland Vista and Cameron Vista, which is near 36th and Campbell, regarding a shooting.
When officers arrived on scene, they located the female victim, who was suffering from apparent gunshot trauma. She was transported to a local trauma center in serious condition, but is expected to survive her injuries.
Officers determined victim was home alone when she heard noises in the house. As she was investigating the source of the noise, she observed several suspects fleeing through the front yard carrying property from the residence.
One of the suspects fired a shot, or shots, at the victim just after she exited the doorway, striking her at least once.
The suspects then fled from the area and were last seen running westbound.
Anyone who may have information about a motive for the crime or the possible identify of the suspects is urged to contact 911 or 88-CRIME.
