TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Border Patrol agents seized just over 180 pounds of hard narcotics in the past 48 hours in the Nogales area.
According to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Nogales station agents arrested two Mexican nationals east of the DeConcini Port of Entry early yesterday morning.
The subjects had three bundles of narcotics. Two bundles contained 171 pounds of cocaine worth almost $2 million. The third bundle contained five containers filled with methamphetamine, weighing seven pounds and worth nearly $86,000.
In a separate incident on Tuesday, a Border Patrol canine team at the I-19 checkpoint found a small bundle of heroin valued at approximately $9,600 near a driver's thigh.
All narcotics from both incidents will be turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration and the subjects will face possible federal charges.
