GLOBE, Ariz. (AP) - A man accused of killing a Gilbert police officer has pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in an unrelated killing in Gila County.
A judge sentenced 37-year-old Christopher Redondo Tuesday to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
The June 24, 2009 killing of Miami, Ariz., resident Ernie Singh occurred seven months before Gilbert police Lt. Eric Shuhandler was killed during a traffic stop on Jan. 28, 2010.
Gila County Attorney Daisy Flores tells The Arizona Republic that no matter what happens in Redondo's upcoming murder trial in Phoenix, Redondo will spend the rest of his life in prison.
