Immigration protest blocks Phoenix intersection

PHOENIX (AP) - Several people were arrested after a rally in a Phoenix intersection to protest immigration policies of Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio.
The protesters include many students from Trevor Browne High School and other area high schools and colleges.
They rallied Tuesday afternoon in the intersection of 75th Avenue and Cheery Lynn Street, forcing the closures of 75th Avenue in both directions.
Phoenix police say the protest was illegal because participants blocked the road.
Officials say, the protest started on a street corner but moved into the street by 3:15 p.m.
Police say the protesters were told to leave by 5:30 p.m. or risk being arrested and several were. However, there was no immediate information on how many were taken into custody.
