PATAGONIA, Ariz. (AP) - Emergency personnel said a wildfire that broke out in eastern Santa Cruz County has burned close to 450 acres.
Captain Ike Isakson of the Patagonia Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department told the Nogales International that a coalition of local firefighters and Coronado National Forest officials responded to the blaze Saturday night. He said officials contained the fire by early Sunday.
Officials say dry conditions and high winds were to blame.
A late-morning rain helped to extinguish hot spots.
The U.S. Forest Service has given no official damage estimate.
