Elderly woman mauled by pit bulls

PIMA COUNTY, Ariz. (KGUN9-TV) - An 89-year-old woman was attacked by two pit bulls who escaped from their yard.
Deputy Dawn Barkman with PCSD tells KGUN9 the attacked occurred at the 4900 block of N. Villa Carina which is near Oracle Road and River Road.
Barkman says the incident happened around 10:45 a.m. when the woman drove to the community mailbox to pick-up her mail. That is when two pit bulls attacked the woman, she fell to the ground and was mauled.
She was transported to UAMC with serious injuries.
The owner of the dogs surrendered them to Pima Animal Control.
Deputy Dawn Barkman confirms the dogs are pit bulls.
