Yuma set to roust roosters
Web Producer: Marissa Pasquet
YUMA, Ariz. (AP) - Crowing roosters causing a ruckus will no longer will be allowed in the city if the Yuma City Council approves an ordinance this week to ban them.
The measure was drafted after it came to the city staff's attention that city code language still allows roosters inside city limits as 4-H and Future Farmers of America projects.
The Yuma Sun (http://bit.ly/yCnbBd ) reports that if the city council approves, the ordinance amendment would delete that provision of city code, allowing only roosters that are incapable of making noise.
A staff report says the measure will ensure that no resident in the city of Yuma will have their peace and tranquility disturbed by the crowing of male poultry.
