People turning to emergency room for dental aid
Web Producer: Christina Grande
PHOENIX (AP) - Although they're not equipped for it, Phoenix hospital emergency room doctors say more people are seeking treatment at the E-R.
Maricopa Medical Center Dr. Steven Stapczynski tells KTAR-FM (http://bit.ly/wELk4J ) the facility treated about 1,000 dental emergencies last year with the bad economy leaving many people without insurance and the emergency room their only chance for help.
Stapczynski says they can give patients a list of dental services at generally low-cost.
Hospital officials add they can't do much to help with dental issues other than give something for the pain and possible infection.
