Man struck in crosswalk, sustains serious injuries

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - A 27-year-old man has sustained serious, but non-fatal injuries after being struck by a vehicle on Wednesday night.
Sgt. Maria Hawke with Tucson Police tells KGUN9 a man was crossing the street in a crosswalk at Broadway Boulevard and Kolb Road around 11:00 p.m. when he was struck by a maroon Chevy Silverado.
The pedestrian was transported from the scene for treatment of his injuries.
The 36-year-old driver of the Silverado, identified as Corey Whitley, fled the scene, but called 9-1-1 when he got home.
Police responded to his home and arrested Whitley. He has been charged with failure to remain at the scene on an accident.
Impairment is not suspected in this case.
