Pedestrian dies after being struck by car

ORO VALLEY, Ariz. (KGUN9-TV) – A 78-year-old woman injured after she was hit by a car Thursday night has died due to the injuries she sustained from the accident, according to authorities with the Oro Valley Police. 

Police have identified the woman as Bessie Datt a resident of Oro Valley; who was crossing the street at North Oracle Road at North La Reserve Drive when she was hit.

Authorities say the driver of the vehicle involved in the collision is uninjured.

Investigators say, based on evidence at the scene and witness statements; it appears that the motor vehicle that struck Datt was not at fault. 

Speed, alcohol and drugs are not suspected as a factor in this collision, according to authorities. 

Investigators report, at this point in time it is not anticipated that any citations or arrests will take place. 

The road was reopened at approximately 10:30 p.m. Thursday, after it was closed for hours as authorities investigated the accident.
