PHOENIX, Ariz. (AP) - State officials say the Transportation Department soon will begin two projects to replace structurally deficient bridges on U.S. 70 between Globe and Safford.

One of the bridges to be replaced spans the San Carlos River 21 miles east of Globe. That project will cost $7.9 million and is scheduled to be completed in early 2013.

The other bridge to be replaced is nearly 2,000 feet long and located five miles west of Bylas. That project has a $12.7 million price tag and also is scheduled for completion in 2013.
