APACHE JUNCTION, Ariz. (AP) - Memorial services are Friday for three children killed in a plane crash last month in the Superstition Mountains east of Phoenix.
The memorial service is being held in Gold Canyon near Apache Junction at the Foothills Baptist Church.
Shawn Perry and his children, 9-year-old Morgan, 8-year-old Logan, and 6-year-old Luke, were seated in the back of the plane when it hit a cliff less than five minutes after taking off from Mesa's Falcon Field. Two other men also died in the crash.
A preliminary federal report shows the pilot appears to have flown straight into a cliff Nov. 23 without making any effort to climb over the mountain.
