TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - A Mexican man with a prior rape conviction in Ohio has been arrested by U.S. Border Patrol agents in southern Arizona.
Authorities say 26-year-old Jose Rosa-Torres was apprehended Wednesday night by Nogales Border Patrol agents near Amado.
During processing, agents discovered Rosa-Torres was arrested and convicted in 2004 for rape in Butler County, Ohio, and sentenced to two years in prison.
The Border Patrol says Rosa-Torres' criminal record was discovered using the Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System.
Federal prosecutors said Thursday that Rosa-Torres will be prosecuted for re-entry of an aggravated felon. It's unclear whether he has legal representation yet.
