School evacuated due to gas line break

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Authorities say a ruptured gas line caused officials at Bloom Elementary School on Tucson's east side to evacuate the school.

The cause of the rupture is unknown at this time, it occurred just before noon Monday at the elementary school near Sarnoff Drive and Pima Street, according to authorities.

Authorities closed the area off to vehicle and pedestrian traffic until Southwest Gas crews could repair the line . About four hundred- thirty students and staff members had been evacuated from the elementary school.

Authorities say the students and staff members have been taken to the school yard. Officials say  Southwest Gas crews need to repair the line before anyone is allowed back into the school.
