One person displaced after house fire

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - One person has been displaced after an apartment fire Friday morning.

Trish Tracy, a spokesperson with Tucson Fire tells KGUN9 firefighters responded the the 2600 block of North Alvernon Way.

A man heard an alarm sounding in one of the apartments and noticed smoke coming through the cracks of the window of a ground floor unit. He knocked on the front door to alert the occupant, but nobody answered.  He immediately called 911, says Tracy.

Tracy says that when firefighters arrived, they quickly searched the unit and found a woman in her 50’s inside the unit.  Paramedics transported her to a hospital with serious injuries.

The damage is estimated at $15,000 and the cause has been ruled accidental.
