TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities say a man has died after being hit by a car while jaywalking in Tucson.

The victim is identified as 60-year-old William C. Manuel of Tucson.

Based on witness accounts and roadway evidence, Tucson police say Manuel wasn't in a crosswalk when he stepped out between two park cars about 5:30 p.m. Saturday and was struck by a Jeep on East Pennington Street.

Officers say Manuel suffered serious injuries and was transported to a Tucson hospital's trauma center. He died of his injuries early Sunday.

Police say there's no indication that the driver of the Jeep was at fault and no charges are expected.
