PHOENIX (AP) - Arizona Democrats are expressing discontent with a draft map of new legislative districts approved by the state's redistricting commission.

Democratic Party Executive Luis Heredia says the map doesn't include enough districts that would be considered competitive between the two parties. And Heredia says Republicans have registration edges in all the districts that could be considered competitive.

The commission's several preliminary competitiveness measurements put the number of competitive districts at between three and eight out of the 30 total.

A Republican Party spokesman says party officials are still reviewing the map.

The draft legislative map and its counterpart for U.S. House districts will be the subject of hearings being held across the state through early November. The commission then must approve final versions of both maps.
