TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - A 13 vehicle pileup has snarled traffic between Tucson and Phoenix on Interstate 10 near Picacho.

Officers with the Department of Public Safety say that the accident occurred at milepost 214 and involved commercial vehicles. Eastbound traffic was blocked while crews worked to clear the accident.

Patrick Calhoun with the Avra Valley Fire Department said that they had 5 people taken to local hospitals with non life threatening injuries.

Calhoun added that fire crews encountered low visibility due to blowing dust when they arrived on-scene.
