TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - The Tucson Police Department received notification of a serious traffic collision involving a motorcycle. It happened at the intersection of East Speedway Boulevard and North Wilmot Road at 6:48 p.m. Saturday.

Officers from Operations Division East responded to the intersection in order to initiate an investigation. Authorities quickly determined that the driver of the motorcycle was in very serious condition as a result of the collision. The intersection was subsequently closed for several hours.

Authorities with the Tucson Fire Department transported both the motorcyclist and the driver of the other vehicle, a 2003 silver Honda Civic, to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries. While at the hospital, the motorcyclist succumbed to his injuries and died. Next of kin has been reached. The motorcyclist referenced in this investigation has been identified as 36-year old Tucson resident, Andrew Seale. The driver of the Honda Civic sustained only minor injuries.

Detectives from the Traffic Investigations and Night Detective Units responded to further the investigation. They collected evidence and interviewed witnesses at the scene. The detectives learned that the motorcyclist was traveling southbound through the intersection when his motorcycle was struck by the silver car, which appeared to have been completing a left turn from the northbound left turn bay of North Wilmot.

Authorities report the driver of the silver vehicle stopped his car immediately and remained at the scene of the collision. Various witnesses called 911 simultaneously to report the collision. It appears the motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, authorities report.

The investigation continues at this time; no arrests have been made as yet.
