TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Cleanup crews have contained a diesel fuel leak that contaminated soil near the Mt. Graham International Observatory.
A security guard found the spill around 10:50 p.m. on September 15th 2011. Repair crews determined that a in-line fuel filter had broken and approximately 2,550 gallons of fuel leaked onto the parking area in front of the building. Fuel also spilled onto Forest Road 669.
Southwest Hazard Control has been contracted to remove the contaminated soil, crews also cleaned up the fuel in the parking area.
