TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) – Tucson Police and the Pima County Animal Control are investigating an animal hoarding case on the westside.

Police say a large amount of livestock was found on the property at 1832 South Santa Cruz Lane.  They say the animals were either dead or diseased.

“The list that we have included goats, sheep, pigeons, pigs, ducks, cats, dogs and geese,” explained Sgt. Mary Hawke with Tucson Police.

Pima Animal Control is working to determine the health of the animals and will have to euthanize the animals too sick to recover.

The property owner, Beverly Westmoreland, was cited for obstruction of justice.  Officials say she initially refused to let police on her property.

“It seems she was keeping most of them here as pets, but there is some indication that some of the larger animals like the goats and the pigs she would sell and allow slaughter like activity and sell them from this facility,” detailed Sgt. Hawke.
