2 men die from West Nile virus in Maricopa County

PHOENIX (AP) - Authorities in Maricopa County say that two elderly men have died after contracting West Nile virus.
The Associated Press reports that the names of the victims have not yet been released.
Officials say the two men were residents of different parts of the Phoenix metropolitan area and were among 23 human cases of West Nile in Maricopa County so far this year.
More than 100 mosquito samples have tested positive for the virus from all over the state, said h Health officials.
The mosquito-transmitted disease was first found in Arizona in 2003. More than 1,000 human cases have been reported since then.
There were 166 human cases of West Nile in Arizona and 14 deaths last year.
