FEC agrees to Giffords' campaign security request
Web Producer: Ina Ronquillo
WASHINGTON (AP) - The Federal Election Commission has unanimously agreed that Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords' campaign can use $2,200 in donations to pay for security upgrades to her family home in Houston.
The U.S. Capitol Police had recommended better lighting, locks and an alarm button for the house, reports The Associated Press.
Campaign donations are not allowed for personal uses. However, the commission determined that the enhanced security was due to violence and security threats stemming from her work as a member of Congress.
