Flu kills Maricopa County child

PHOENIX (AP) - Health officials with Maricopa County say a child has died of the flu. This is an unusual occurrence at this time of year and has prompted public-health officials to suggest earlier vaccinations.
The Arizona Republic reports the child's death was confirmed Tuesday.
Three flu cases have reported in Maricopa County already this summer. The other two reported cases were in adults.
Details about the child's identity, location and exact date of death are being withheld for privacy reasons.
Health officials say the child lived in Maricopa County.
