TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - National Park Service officials announced the re-opening of all trails in the Chiricahua National Monument, Coronado National Memorial, and Santa Cruz County .
The Bonita Creek Campground at Chiricahua National Monument is also open. The scenic drive beyond the campground is closed. At the Chiricahua National Monument some trails may still be closed. Visitors are encouraged to check with the visitor center for trail information and accessibility.
Visitors need to be aware of their surroundings at the hiking trails at both Chiricahua National Monument and Coronado National Memorial when passing through burned landscapes.
Flash floods, hazardous trees in the area, and mud flows are possible. The trails may be subject to temporary closures depending on weather conditions.
Santa Cruz County has lifted a ban on fireworks after recent monsoon rains dampened fire danger. The local district chiefs are cautioning that fuel conditions can change in the weeks and months to come.
The County Board of Supervisors banned the use of consumer-grade fireworks in late June because of extreme drought conditions.
For more information please contact the Chiricahua visitor center at 520-824-3560 ext 0 or the Coronado visitor center at 520-366-5515 ext 0.
