Border Patrol agents find hidden methamphetamine in vehicle

YUMA, Ariz. (KGUN-TV/ AP) - U.S. Border Patrol agents report they've seized more than 14 pounds of methamphetamine that was hidden in the tires of a vehicle passing through a Yuma checkpoint.
     
Wellton agents working a checkpoint on Interstate 8 referred a vehicle for secondary inspection Thursday.

In the spare tire, agents found 16 wrapped packages containing 14.2 pounds of methamphetamine. Officers say the meth has an estimated value of more than $220,000.
     
Agents seized the vehicle and turned the driver over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations for further investigation.
     
The name and nationality of the driver wasn't released by authorities Friday.
