TUSD releases enrollment numbers for school year

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - The Tucson Unified School District released their official enrollment numbers for the 2016-2017 school year at a press conference on Friday.

According to the district, there are 45 more students across the schools this year including pre-K.

TUSD superintendent H.T. Sanchez said this is the first year during his tenure that the district hasn't seen a significant loss in enrollment.

"We wanted to set the record straight that people aren't running from the district, and people aren't choosing other options. People are choosing Tucson Unified, and I think the evidence is very clear to that effect," Sanchez said.

Sanchez said this year's K-12 net loss is much less than last year's.
